I want to share with you something that you may struggle with, that I know I, personally, have struggled with, which is a feeling of not being justified in feeling happy, or not feeling like you deserve anything good.
Once I’d lost the weight, I remember sitting for a few minutes and realizing I had this sensation inside of me, and it was pure joy. I was watching my kids, life was good … and I was worried that the other shoe was going to drop. Maybe you feel like that sometimes — like everything in your life is going well, and so you’re wondering when the next bad thing is going to happen.
You struggle with being happy.
You struggle with accepting the fact that you have something good going on in your life right now. I want to let you know that you’re not crazy; it’s something a lot of us experience.
I grew up in a situation where I wasn’t encouraged to be happy. When I was happy, somebody tried to go out of their way to ruin that. So, as I grew up and was on my own, I realized when I had those feelings, I wanted to suppress them. I didn’t know how to deal with them, and so I would sabotage myself.
When you think, “I can’t be happy” or “I’m not justified in being happy,” that’s when you start to do things that actually ruin what’s making you happy.
In the Half Size Me community, we’ve talked about how to start to view happiness totally differently — how to experience happiness now, and how to work on getting past that fear of when the other shoe is going to drop.
It can be a little sad to realize that all this time you haven’t allowed yourself to be happy, but at the same time, once you realize that, then you can start to fix it.

I find this is a topic a lot of people don’t discuss, and it’s often why people don’t reach their goals; they start to feel happy or satisfied, and then they’re so afraid something’s going to be taken away from them, they end up doing it themselves.
I look forward to seeing you in the community!
